Car brands most used within the modifying car industry

I have decided to look up the different car brands that are most commonly used by the young racers which may shed some light onto how I am going to aim my magazine at them whether it is a cheap brand or reliable brand, this is what I have come up with.

The Ford brand is most well known as 'fix and repair daily' it is not extremely reliable however for 90% of the cars produced by them there are thousands of body kits and because of the mass amount of cars they produced there are so many others who have old bits off them that are cheap. So off this brand I perceive that people buy them due to the cheapness and the prospect of endless modding.

Volkswagen is a brand chosen for their reliability and their classic styles. The younger drivers such as 17-20 year old's would buy a car older than 15 years (most of the mk2's, campers, mk1's, etc.) and get classic car insurance however when doing that there is very little you can actually do to it. This proves to me that they will go for it if it cheap.

Toyota is more a brand for people who are first time buyers wanting a brand new nice little car to get them around and they know if anything goes wrong they can repair it. I believe this shows its ease of use.

So far it needs to be cheap and easy to use.

With Seat I believe they are bought for the pure fact that they look good, people leave themselves with no money each month trying to afford to run these cars that although may have tiny engines but look so nice that it is viewed as a beauty when you have one younger. I believe that this would bring the fact of looks into the magazine because the expense and the practicality may out weigh the cost issues but yet they are still bought. It proves looks are worth everything.

Renaults once again are bought for their cheapness and the mass amount of quick fixes and quick car tricks that are out there to improve the look of them. However with Renault most students tend to go for the Clio due to its economical side of it, this is unless you are intending to have power as well as looks. Renault are not best known for their power.

For my final logo I have chosen to look at Honda as the Civic is extremely popular to the boy racers due to it being classed as a family car, yet having the looks to pull off a body kit. Although not economical for fuel in anyway the Civic seems to attract people to it due to its looks and its power.

I see now how important the looks are of the magazine are just from looking at these logos and seeing why people choose their cars. Especially because they often say that the car reflects the personality of the person who drives it, meaning you can tell a lot from a person just by the look and modifications on their cars.
