Mod Car Websites

I thought as a bit of research that I should look at is the websites because if the magazine is good enough most of the time people would check out the websites, especially if they have gotten rid of the magazines themselves and wanted to remind themselves of a past issue. Now I know I am not creating the website but it is the easiest way to check out modified cars and how they are best shown, so here are 5 websites I liked the most.

Ultimate Street Car
This website is purely made for the purpose of an event called the USC show, it shows past shows and lets you get involved in the future shows. I believe that it is quite good that the header is so big and so draws in so much attention, also makes you realise if you are on the wrong website. I believe their use of colours is quite powerful as the hot pink sidebar stands out unbelievably compared to the black and white background. The next colour that catches your eye would have to be the white or yellow in the header and type. This is useful as once used to these colours you can guide the viewers eyes to where ever you want them to go. I believe that the use of these colours is the way in which UCS is trying to attract a slightly more female crowd to the show rather than just purely attracting males.

Car
Car is a magazine that I have come to realise is a mens magazine about cars that have just come out which are...to most of us...quite expensive. When viewing the past issues of this magazine I believe that they are aiming at middle aged men with lots of money and lots of lust for a sports car. Although they may not buy them this is virtually a catalogue for what they could dream about having. The website is very clean cut and easy to manoeuvre around which will make more people want to view it.

Unlimited Styling
Very similar to the UCS website in the fact that it is aimed at men but seems to be trying to attract women due to the colours. It seems quite easy to manoeuvre due to all links being on the front page and little imagery, however I believe it lacks that professional look, this could be due to the white boxes around or the fact that there is very little photography on the main page. However I looked into the page and it is all about modifying your car and where to buy certain parts from.

Uk Street Cars
The entrance to this website is all about trying to entice people in to view what they have, this is achieved by showing the major car magazines and saying basically that they have approved it and its quality. This will entice the audience because they may read these magazines and realise that the quality must be as good as the magazines themselves. The website also names places to buy cheap mods on your cars however in my eyes these are not cheap more slightly lower than average.

Modified Cars
Now this website to me is more classic than boy racer attracting a variety of audiences and with an easy navigation makes people WANT to use it. I realise that with the easy navigation and the clear imagery, no over-doing of the colours it makes it a bit more sophisticated than just looking like its about street. My favourite part of the website is its simplicity in the header, being an image and the website titles however the colours are not overpowering and the font style is simple and clear.

All in all I realise that the most appealing way to attract a wider variety of audiences is not to make it all about the street side of the modified cars but also making it fit the styles of the designs you are showing. This is done by first realising the beauty of the cars and next using the styling and colours to enhance the page they are on. I will need to really concentrate on the imagery I am using in order to capture the flow of the design and use it to help my layouts.
