Ipad browsers

As I am designing a magazine for the Ipad I needed to research the difference between Ipad browsers so that I can utilize the space and the media appropriately.

Skyfire: Skyfire is one of the most reliable browser in terms of watching videos due to apple not allowing the flash player. If you want to watch flash videos on Skyfire all you have to do is select the broken flash icon on the video and they will load it on their system transferring it back to the Ipad, this means that it takes literally seconds to view a video you previously would not be able to. Also included in this browser is its excellent use of full screen mode utilizing every inch on the Ipads screen.

Atomic: Atomic is unique in the way that it offers an experience of ease similar to chrome and Firefox so it is not too difficult to learn the ropes. Next feature important to my project is its touch gestures, they make it easy to flick between various pages with the flick of a finger or with the flick of two fingers may play a video depending on what you have set it to be. It is also transferable to the Iphone and so makes it possible that if you really wanted my magazine on the Iphone you have a guarantee that it will play on the browser. Finally full screen utilizes the space to its maximum capability.

Icab: Icab does not have many of the features that I could be using apart from the use on a mobile and its full screen. However there is one more feature not seen on the other browsers. You can download things directly off the browser, this could be used instead of sending the magazine via the I tunes store it could also be accessible directly from the browser, this would mean that the reader could go back to it again and again and store them all on there to read whenever they wanted to.

Browser duo: This is a rather disappointing browser for the Ipad as it does not offer many special features such as the downloading or the flash player. However one special feature that may or may not benefit me is its use to view two web pages at once, if I were to do a cover per page it would be brilliant but I am making one magazine of double page spreads to view and interact with. Another bad point is that it cannot fully utilize the full screen leaving a line around the edges.

There is no video for this as of yet.

Safari: Safari is a good standard browser as you know it is safe and is going to work however may not necessarily be the best for the job. There are three main features that I wish to tell about on safari and the first is that you can view full websites without sliding your screen left or right, this is due to the huge screen size and the resolution the browser is set at, this makes it easier and more enjoyable as an experience when viewing a magazine. Next when viewing the magazine/web page you have the option of searching an exact word or phrase and if we could add this into our magazine it would mean if you wanted to go back and search something you don't have to spend a long time just type it in and away you go. Thirdly is the matter of printing straight from the web to a wireless printer, due to it's wireless feature you could print out the magazine if you really wanted to and view it paper based.

So really in conclusion I would use Safari as the browser of choice however if I were to create my magazine as Flash I would go for the Skyfire.
